X-Ray
The
X-ray department provides a general radiology service including
chest, general orthopaedic, vascular and urology studies.
Depending on what type of X-ray you are having, it should take
15-30 minutes and is carried out by a radiographer. You will be
asked to lie or stand against a surface so the part of your body
being X-rayed is between the X-ray source and a film cassette. The
part of your body is exposed to X-rays for a fraction of a second.
The system is fully digital so images are immediately available to
your Consultant.
The
X-ray department also has a colour flow ultrasound enabling
complex ultrasound studies to be undertaken.
For
more information, and if you have any queries about the procedure,
please speak to your Consultant.
If you are, or there is a possibility you may be pregnant or you
are diabetic, please tell the radiographer before your X-ray.
