Dedicated one-stop menstrual disorder clinic

Mr Mike Katesmark now offers patients a dedicated one-stop menstrual disorder clinic at the Clock House Medical Practice.

The service aims to provide a comprehensive diagnostic and treatment service for women with the following disorders:

  • Irregular menstrual cycles
  • Fibroids
  • Lost IUCD
  • Peri-menopausal bleeding
  • Post menopausal discharge or bleeding
  • Postcoital bleeding

The clinic will provide a service to include history & examination, screening for anaemia if appropriate and direct hysteroscopic visualisation of the uterine cavity (under local anaesthetic if required).

Any necessary biopsies of the endometrium can be taken and small polyps excised at the same visit. If requested, A Mirena IUCD can also be fitted under direct vision for those women where uterine anatomy makes placement in the GP surgery too difficult.

An ultrasound scan can also be performed if indicated to assess ovarian morphology and delineate any fibroids not visible from within the endometrial cavity.

Mr Katesmark is an accredited Royal College Of Gynaecologists hysteroscopist and is on the teaching faculty of the Minimal Access Training and Therapy Unit (MATTU) at Guildford University Hospital. He is also lead clinician for Gynaecological Oncology and Cancer Screening at Epsom & St Helier Hospitals Trust.

The service has been developed for women with a range of common disorders and aims to diagnose and treat with the minimum of disruption to their busy modern schedules.
