Mr. Mike Bailey FRCS (Urol)

Mr. Mike Bailey is a Consultant Urologist at St. George's Hospital where he is medical director.

Mr. Bailey trained at the Royal London Hospital and was surgical registrar at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton and St George's Hospital, London. He was research fellow at the Royal Marsden Hospital and Institute of Cancer Research. Subsequently he was senior registrar at St George's Hospital and the Institute of Urology, London.

He was appointed as a Consultant at Epsom General Hospital in 1987, where he worked until 1995. He was then invited to join the staff at St. George's Hospital and had a joint appointment until 2002. The changes to delivering of cancer services meant that from 2002 he moved full time to St. George's.

Mr. Bailey has special interests in urological cancer (bladder, prostate, and kidney) and benign prostatic hypertrophy. He has published over 40 articles on bladder and prostate cancer, erectile dysfunction and laser treatment of prostatic enlargement. He has also written two books - 'Day to day urology' and 'Fast facts on bladder cancer'.

As much of his work is related to patients with cancer, he is supported in his private clinics by a clinical nurse specialist in uro-oncology, Mrs. Anne Connor.
