Mr. Dhiren Nehra FRCS MPhil
Mr Nehra has been working with the Epsom and St Helier Trust since 1999 with clinical sessions at both hospitals and outreach clinics in Epsom Old Cottage, Cobham, Sutton and Nelson Hospitals. He has been the Cancer Specialist for the SW Thames Upper GI Cancer Network. He graduated in 1983 from Sion Medical College affiliated to University of Bombay with MS in General Surgery and underwent Higher Training in Wales with specialisation in Upper GI surgery culminating in FRCS (Gen Surg) and MPhil Thesis on 'Bile Reflux in Barrett's Oesophagus'. He gained further experience at University Hospital California, Los Angeles where he spent a years training in the Foregut Unit under Dr Tom DeMeester, an eminent and well renowned professor on Surgery. He has visited the Gastric Cancer Unit at the National Cancer Hospital in Tokyo. His current clinical practice involves provision of diagnostic services for cancer work and performing complex gastrointestinal and Laparoscopic surgery. These include Diagnostic OGD and colonoscopy, Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy and Laparoscopic Nissen Antireflux procedure. His general surgical practice includes most aspects of day-case general surgery (hernia, varicose veins, haemorrhoids, anal fissures and fistula, pilonidal sinus, skin lesions and lumps etc.) He has developed a mini-incision technique of repair of groin and paraumbilical hernia involving the use of newer designed double layered prolene mesh. This is a walk in - walk out procedure and can be performed under local anaesthetic. Mr Nehra is on the special register with the GMC (Registration no 3637566 - http://www.gmc-uk.org/register/search/index.asp). He is member of the BMA, Association of Surgeons of Great Britain & Ireland, Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons and Society of Surgeons of Alimentary Tracks USA.
