Mr.
Roger Walker FRCS(Urol)
Mr.
Roger Walker is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Epsom and St.
Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust.
In
addition to general urology he has a special interest in bladder
function, urinary incontinence, prolapse and female urology (urogynaecology).
Mr.
Walker graduated from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School
and undertook higher surgical and urological training in the West
London region.
He
spent a year at the Institute of Urology, University College,
London where his research was in the area of bladder dysfunction,
urinary incontinence and urodynamics. He has published widely in
this area.
He undertook fellowship periods to Duke University and Cedars
Sinai, Los Angeles in the USA. More recently he has returned from
a year in New Zealand where he worked in the spinal injuries unit
while providing continence and urogynaecology services to the
region.
He is
on the national executive committee of the female urology and
reconstruction section of BAUS (British Association of Urological
Surgeons). He is actively involved in the teaching of medical
students and trainee surgeons.
Mr.
Walker is involved in providing a regional continence service. He
specialises in urodynamics (assessment of bladder function),
pelvic floor and continence surgery. These include minimally
invasive procedures for example tape/sling operations (TVT) and
periurethral injections (Zuidex).
Recent
guidance from the National Institute of Health and Clinical
Excellence (NICE) has highlighted the common problem of urinary
incontinence in women. It recommends only specialists with
appropriate training and performing a sufficient number of
procedures undertake assessment and surgery. Mr. Walker performs
over 50 continence operations annually with regularly audited and
reviewed results.

Roger Walker is on the Specialist Register with the General
Medical Council (No. 3320288).
